Bok, Edward (William)
(9 oct. 1863, Den Helder, Países Bajos–9 ene. 1930, Lake Wales, Fla., EE.UU.).

Editor estadounidense de origen holandés. Criado en una familia de inmigrantes pobres establecida en Brooklyn, N.Y., hizo carrera en el campo de la publicación de libros y revistas. Como editor del Ladies' Home Journal (1889–1919), creó secciones para informar a las lectoras sobre diversos temas y organizó campañas sobre salud pública y estética personal. Su decisión de dejar de publicar propaganda de medicamentos, ayudó a gestionar la aprobación de la ley de alimentos y fármacos de 1906. También puso fin a la práctica de no mencionar las enfermedades venéreas en materiales impresos. Dedicó los últimos años de su vida a trabajar en causas cívicas y por el mantenimiento de la paz mundial. Escribió una notable autobiografía: Americanization of Edward Bok [La americanización de Edward Bok] (1920, Premio Pulitzer).
